Job Description and Scope

We are looking for a full-time candidate at the rank of Research Assistant Professor, non-tenure with a desire to teach. The person in this position will be expected to develop and use novel computational methodologies, including algorithms or genome-scale biotechnologies, or that use multiple existing techniques together in innovative ways. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose research is related to sexually transmitted infections, HIV and/or infection-related pregnancy complications. The candidate is expected to bring some independent research funding in support of their own research program and is expected to successfully maintain such funding. The candidate will be expected to work both independently and in collaboration with a team and have creativity in analysis and visualization of complex data sets. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with other faculty in the Research Division to implement a broader range of reproductive health research studies. Strong interest in mentoring junior faculty and trainees is also required. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This appointment is a 12-month service period with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or foreign equivalent with at least 3 years of post-doctoral research experience
  • Deep experience using state-of-the-art analysis techniques of systems biology to broadly analyze single cell- and tissue-level functions at the transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic and epigenetic level
  • Experience as a PI or co-investigator on a health research grant
  • Experience working with preclinical studies, clinical trials and/or analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Strong quantitative training in bioinformatics and system analysis tools
  • Strong scientific writing, and oral presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience as a mentor or educator
