The post, based within the School of Public Health,  is funded through the Applied Research Collaborative (ARC) North West London, one of 15 NIHR ARCs launched in 2019 to support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems.

An exciting opportunity for a well-qualified candidate to take a senior role in the NW London NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Programme.

You will report to the Theme Lead for Public Involvement and Community Engagement (Professor Helen Ward) and the ARC Director (Professor Azeem Majeed), you will lead research into engagement and involvement of public and community partners to improve health and care using case studies in NW London. Duties and responsibilities

You will undertake and commission literature reviews, support research and evaluations to deliver the Patient Involvement and Community Engagement Theme within the NW London ARC Programme.

You will also undertake your own research to address one or more of the theme’s research questions using appropriate methods including secondary data analysis, reviews, surveys, ethnography and/or case studies.

You will use and promote a participatory approach in research ensuring the involvement and engagement of local communities as partners and, where possible, co-researchers.

In line with your public involvement and community engagement responsibilities, you will build and maintain strong working relationships with ARC public advisors, and develop an effective network of links to and communication with community organisations.

Essential requirements

You will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline for health research. Experience of carrying out empirical research in a relevant discipline. Experience of managing and analysing data (quantitative and/or qualitative)

To be appointed as a Research Fellow level you will have experience of working in multidisciplinary teams. Experience of work in health services or equivalent complex environment. Experience of participatory approaches in research or practice.
