Job summary

The successful candidate will join a highly dedicated team responsible for the development of novel technologies for rapid, point of need genetic testing. The extended team consists of a multi-disciplinary cohort with complementary skills in engineering, medicine, biology, genetics, chemistry, physics, and computing. You will be based at the South Kensington Campus.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for conducting research on genetics and chronic disease, understanding how technology may assist people in making the right decision, what technology developments may have a higher impact on control and management of the disease, and how people may interact with it. In addition, the individual genetic data related to specific diseases could be included. The job requires the candidate to be able to communicate and work with the engineering team to help translate the research findings into applicable technologies. The role will give opportunity to develop new skills.

Essential requirements

- The candidates, appointed at the Research Associate level, must have a PhD degree or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences or a related subject or about to receive PhD,
- All candidates must have previous experience studying and/or working in a research-focused university,
- All candidates must have a good knowledge of genetics
- Demonstrated ability to conduct experiments and advanced quantitative data analysis, including PCR and LAMP
