Job summary

Applications are invited for the position of a Research Associate within the Cell Proliferation Group at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS). This position is funded by a grant of CRUK. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc interested in joining our friendly and international team. The successful candidate will work on the interplay between splicing and senescence.

The LMS is directly funded by the Medical Research Council and associated with Imperial College. The LMS provide excellent core facilities and support structures, including automated microscopy systems, next generation sequence and proteomics. The Cell Proliferation Group is part of the Epigenetics Section and interacts with other groups in the LMS studying cell cycle, cancer, and chromatin organisation.

Duties and responsibilities

You will work in a focused and organised manner to produce independent and original research within the group, deliver the scientific aims of the project and aid in the submission of publications to refereed journals. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the research group.  

Essential requirements

You should be highly motivated, committed and have clear career goals. Experience in senescence, cancer research or genetic and drug screens would be essential. A strong background in molecular and cellular biology and experience with animal work are required. Experience working with primary cells, familiarity with retroviral and lentiviral systems, with genetic or drug screens or with high content microscopy systems (such as InCell) are important. All applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in life sciences or equivalent experience and at least one first-author publication published.

This is a full time- fixed term contract of employment for 3 years based at the Hammersmith Campus, London.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £36,045 - £39,183 per annum.
