Job descriptionJob summaryWe are looking for a Research Associate to join Prof Valeri’s newly established laboratory at Imperial College London (Hammersmith Campus). The team aims to discover novel biomarkers of response and resistance to anti-cancer drugs and to identify novel therapeutics with a specific focus on gastrointestinal cancers. Prof Valeri’s laboratory has an established track-record in using tissue and liquid biopsies to define molecular mechanisms and dynamics that govern primary and acquired resistance to anti-cancer drugs. Furthermore, Prof Valeri’s team has coordinated the first prospective observational study testing the ability of Patient-Derived Organoids from metastatic cancer patients to model treatment response. You should have an interest in developing, optimizing and maintaining computational pipelines for the investigation of cancer biology and evolution or regulation of transcriptional processes, along with a strong will to work in a multi-disciplinary team, including molecular and cell biologists, clinicians and computational biologists. Essential requirementsYou should have a PhD in Computational Biology / Computer Sciences or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience. Your knowledge of Genomics Data Analysis, backed by practical experience within a research environment, is essential to this role. You should have knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures and be able to provide evidence of being able to work independently and as part of a team. Further informationThe posts are initially offered on a full time and fixed term basis for 3 years. Our lab is located in the bustling White City area, where Imperial College London is rapidly expanding. You will get access to Imperial College Benefits including the only Post-Doctoral training centre in the nation. Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £36,045 - £39,183 per annum.
