Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.

The Wellcome - Medical Research Council Cambridge Stem Cell Institute is an international centre of excellence for stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Scientists in the Institute collaborate to advance our knowledge of various stem cell types and to perform pioneering work in translational research areas, providing the foundation for new medical treatments (

The lab of Dr Joo-Hyeon Lee ( asks fundamental questions involving how stem cells sense environmental changes and determine their cell fate, and how niches develop and remodel the local environment during lung regeneration and the early stages of disease progression.

We are looking for dedicated post-doctoral researchers to investigate mechanisms that lead to cellular reprogramming and lineage plasticity in lung regeneration and disease state. The lab applies sophisticated genetic mouse models with lineage tracing techniques, high-resolution imaging analysis, single cell transcriptomics/ epigenomics/ metabolomics, ex vivo mouse and patient-derived human organoid culture with CRISPR-mediated gene regulation, and biophysical modelling.

Successful applicants should have a PhD in a relevant subject, or be close to completion of their degree. Expertise in general areas of development and stem cell biology including image analysis, CRISPR genome editing, flow cytometry analysis, and cell signalling mechanisms would be suitable for this position. Experience of murine genetic models, primary cell cultures, and single cell analysis would be preferable, but not a requirement. Strong background in metabolism and epigenetics would be an advantage.
