Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Research Associate in the Reprogramming and Chromatin Group headed by Prof Petra Hajkova at the London Institute of Medical Sciences (MRC LMS) in Imperial College London. The group studies molecular mechanisms underlying epigenetic reprogramming in vivo and in vitro (for further information, please visit https://lms.mrc.ac.uk/research-group/reprogramming-and-chromatin/

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate scientist to join our efforts to elucidate molecular mechanisms implicated in the dynamic changes in nucleic acid modifications observed in early mouse embryo, developing germ line and pluripotent stem cells.

Duties and responsibilities

Key duties will include identifying and developing suitable techniques, and apparatus, for the collection and analysis of data as well as writing reports for submission to research sponsors. You will also be involved in providing guidance to PhD students and contribute to bids for research grants.

Essential requirements

You should hold a PhD in biology, biochemistry or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience. You will have a solid background in epigenetics and/or in the field of nucleic acid chemistry and metabolism and experience with HPLC and LC/MS would be highly desirable but not absolutely essential.

Further information

This role is offered on a full time and fixed term basis for one year in the first instance.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.
