At Monash, work feels different. There’s a sense of belonging, from contributing to something groundbreaking – a place where great things happen. We value difference and diversity, and welcome and celebrate everyone's contributions, lived experience and expertise. That’s why we champion an inclusive and respectful workplace culture where everyone is supported to succeed. Together with our commitment to academic freedom, you will have access to quality research facilities, infrastructure, world class teaching spaces, and international collaboration opportunities. The Opportunity The Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) integrates research from five fundamental research themes to identify, develop, optimise and deliver new drug treatments – ultimately translating basic research into clinical trials. These are the Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation, Drug delivery, disposition and dynamics, Drug discovery biology, Medicinal chemistry and the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety. The Drug delivery, disposition and dynamics (D4) research teams within the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) are designing and developing the next generation of drug delivery systems and anti-infective agents to enhance medicine effectiveness and patient treatment. The Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN) with Monash University is the centrepiece of the Australian National Fabrication Facility’s Victorian node (ANFF-VIC). The MCN is a multi-institutional joint venture operated by Monash designed to fill the gap in Australia for open access, multi-scale fabrication infrastructure, MCN provides the means to design, fabricate and test complex micro and nanoscience-based devices using an array of state-of-the-art tools and expert engineers. We are currently recruiting for two research fellows in wearable biosensors. The Research Fellows are expected to contribute to an Australian research Council (ARC) funded Laureate program by Prof. Nicolas Voelcker (www.nanomelbourne.com/voelckerlab) on wearable biosensors. This project will focus on gaining an understanding of the interface between nanostructured-silicon-based nanomaterials and biological systems to develop a new generation of biosensor technologies, applied on and in the body. As the successful candidate, you will take carriage of the optical or electrochemical stream in the Laureate program. You will have a doctoral qualification in materials science or a closely related discipline. Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups. Be part of our story. Work with us to #ChangeIt. Monash avidly supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments more easily. Your application must address the selection criteria.
