The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a researcher position in neuroinflammation and neuroprotection research at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience. Mechanisms underlying brain injury following hypoxia in the developing brain will be studied. One of the main purposes is to find new neuroprotective treatments for children born prematurely or suffering from oxygen deficiency at birth.

 

Job assignments

The tasks include surgical techniques in whole animal models. In addition, histological, immunohistological methods, advanced microscopy, molecular biology, isolation of brain blood vessels and determination of blood brain barrier permeability in newborn mice represent a significant part of the work. Teaching, especially in circulation physiology, and limited administration tasks are also required.

Qualifications

Applicant must have completed a PhD in Medical Science, Biotechnology or Biomedicine. The ideal candidate should have a general medical education and a PhD in medical science, with a theoretical background in neuroscience and perinatal circulatory physiology, as well as good practical experience in q-PCR, immunohistochemistry, analysis of microscopic images, isolation of brain blood vessels and have extensive experience with breeding and working with newborn mice. Previous research on inflammation in the immature brain is meritorious. Good collaborative and communication skills are required. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment

The employment is limited (temporary) for 24 months, 100% of full-time and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed.
