About This Opportunity The small animal emergency and critical care internship is an opportunity for new and recent graduates to develop their clinical skills and expertise in a supportive learning environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality, relationship-centered care primarily within UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital. This hospital provides veterinary clinical services for external clients and has a strong involvement in clinical teaching. The position is focused primarily on canine and feline patients, however exposure to avian and exotic patients will be included as part of the Primary Care service and successful candidates will have opportunities for further exposure if desired.
The successful candidate will be involved in the management of urgent primary care and emergency cases, with support from our team of collegial specialists and experienced clinicians. The incumbent will also be exposed to cases across our other service areas including primary care, anaesthesia, referral medicine and surgery. The UQ VETS Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care Internship program is an opportunity for motivated and hardworking individuals to increase their knowledge and skills and prepare for future specialist training or expanding their experience for small animal emergency practice.
The successful Interns will participate in regular rounds, journal club meetings and tutorial sessions, and are supported and encouraged to complete publications or present at ANZCVS Science Week during their internship. Interns are also heavily involved in the teaching of undergraduate Veterinary Science students during their clinical rotations.

This is a full-time (100%%), fixed-term position for up to 1 year. At Clinical Academic level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $74,308.68 - $99,426.59, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $86,941.16 - $116,329.11 annually.
