The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. The department has about 85 employees and here doctoral students, teachers, researchers and administrators work closely together in a creative and open environment. More information about the department is available at: .


The project you will be involved in aims to investigate whether natural products can be used as biomarkers for invasive species in the marine environment. The project runs until March 2020. The work includes research and some administration. You will assist the project manager with the management and coordination of collection and research, as well as reporting on the project. You will also work laboratory, with the collection, extraction, isolation and analysis of organisms and samples.


We are looking for those who have experience in natural product chemistry, and with demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects. You should have experience of administrative work (eg investigative work and evaluation, reporting of scientific work). You should have experience in pharmacognostic research or working methods (eg by isolating natural products). You will have experience mass spectrometry and chromatography. You will have experience in de novo MSMS sequencing, and transcriptome analysis. You must have a doctorate in the relevant area. You are expected to work well in teams and individually. You should be able to express yourself well in English, in both speech and writing.

Desirable / meritorious otherwise

Knowledge of phylogenies and kinship analysis of plants and animals. Experience of working with peptides. Experience of working with biomarkers. Experience of writing reports and applications.
