Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. Appointment for an indefinite term as Senior Lecturer in Experimental Medical Science, based until further notice at the Department of Experimental Medical Science.

Work duties

The work duties include teaching and research in experimental medical science. One important element is to develop research in experimental medicine within one of the research areas pursued by the department. The successful candidate is expected to lead research within this area at an international level while stimulating colleagues and doctoral students to engage in local collaborations that further develop the department’s broad activities. The research will also be expected to contribute to the clinical development of new therapies, diagnostics, treatment or prevention. This is to be done in close collaboration with other research teams at Lund University or Skåne University Hospital, as well as international research environments. The successful candidate is expected to run broad research preferably in collaboration with international groups. The position also includes internal and/or external elected office duties. Teaching within the faculty’s various study programmes in the first, second and third cycles and other teaching duties are included.
If the successful candidate lacks five weeks’ training in teaching and learning in higher education at the time of appointment, their work duties will include completing this training within the first two years of employment. Other duties may also arise as part of the position.


According to chapter 4, section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance a person qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer is to have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or acquired the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

According to Lund University’s Appointment Rules, the applicant must have completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired the corresponding knowledge in some other way in order to be qualified.

Assessment criteria

The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of significance for the subject. The applicant is to demonstrate leadership ability, an ability to interact with wider society and a good capacity for collaboration. The assessment will particularly emphasise research expertise. Especially significant qualifications are:
- having supervised a number of doctoral students as principal supervisor all the way through to the public defence of their thesis;
- having obtained international grants as a project manager and having collaborated in international consortia (e.g. EU networks);
- running specialised translational medical research including clear collaboration with other research disciplines, such as other faculties or specialised pharmaceutical research.
