Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. Employment for an indefinite term as Senior Lecturer in Experimental Medical Science with a specialisation in Morphology, based until further notice at the Department of Experimental Medical Science in Lund.


Work duties
The duties cover research in experimental medical science with a specialisation in morphology. The position includes experimental studies of life processes and the regulation of these using modern imaging methods/techniques. Areas of research include cell and tissue biology, endocrinology, physiology, immunology, metabolism, neurobiology and structural biology. It is a precondition that the successful candidate conducts their own advanced research. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to participate in the faculty’s first, second and third cycle study programmes. Other duties may be included.

Pursuant to Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, a person is qualified for employment as a senior lecturer if they have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or have the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve. Employment as a senior lecturer requires at least five weeks’ training in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way, unless special circumstances apply (see Lund University’s
appointment rules).


Grounds for assesment
The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of significance for the subject. In the assessment, special emphasis will be placed on research expertise.


Additional qualifications include the use of imaging techniques in experimental studies of life processes. The applicant is to have demonstrated research expertise by maintaining a good national and international standing as a researcher and have well-documented research credentials. Research grants received as principal applicant in national and international competition is an additional qualification. The applicant is to have demonstrated teaching expertise both within teaching and supervision in first, second and third cycle education. Documented ability to supervise doctoral students to a PhD is an additional qualification. The applicant is to demonstrate abilities in leadership, interaction with wider society and cooperation. The applicant’s research development potential will be a factor in the assessment.


The successful candidate is to master the Swedish language within a three-year period in order to teach in first cycle education and participate in the University’s administrative work and various bodies.


For teaching staff at Lund University, the general assessment criterion applies: to be suitable, and otherwise have the abilities that are needed to carry out the duties in a satisfactory way.
