In partnership with the Royal Hospital for Women, the School of Women’s & Children’s Health, UNSW Medicine, seeks a Senior Lecturer (Clinical) to manage the academic oversight of the development and implementation of research projects, with a particular focus on translational medicine in Gynaecological Oncology. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in, develop and/or lead additional studies within your areas of academic interest, in accordance with the focus areas of the Gynaecological Oncology. The role of Senior Lecturer (Clinical) reports to the Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

UNSW Medicine is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to a number of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie. The School of Women’s & Children’s Health (SWCH) is comprised of the clinical disciplines of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics, and the National Perinatal Epidemiology Statistics Unit (NPESU). Clinical academics in the School are located at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney Children’s Hospital, St George and Bankstown Hospitals, with teaching contributions made in Paediatrics at the Sutherland, Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals. The main administrative centre for the School is based at the Royal Hospital for Women and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

About the successful applicant:

You have a PhD and/or Medical degree with a substantial background in Gynaecological Oncology research and clinical service, as well as:

  • Eligibility for medical registration in NSW and possession of Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or equivalent specialty qualification, with subspecialist training and accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology
  • Extensive experience in the design and execution of research projects
  • Demonstrated experience in leading high-quality research, including track record of obtaining competitive or contract research funding
  • Proven experience in project management and stakeholder engagement within government, clinical and research settings
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills in a leadership role with a proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Established track record of peer-reviewed publications and research reports relative to research opportunity
  • Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures
