The Department of Automatic control is recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Automatic Control with focus on machine learning at the border between ICT and life science.

Automatic Control is an exciting and broad subject, which includes both deep mathematics and practical engineering. Throughout history, it has been central to many fields, from the early development of telecommunications to the space race. Now the technology is driven towards even larger systems and control technology is more relevant than ever. AI and Machine Learning are undergoing strong growth in control technology both nationally and internationally and the demand from students, academia and industry is very high.

The current position is placed at the Department of Automatic Control, LTH in a research group dealing with data science with applications in life sciences. The group includes an adjunct professor from Institute Roche and another professor and a lecturer.  The department has approximately 60 employees and constitutes a stimulating and international environment consisting of doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and teachers from many parts of the world. Here, research and teaching take place in an open and progressive climate with challenges and collaborations both within academia and with industrial partners, both nationally and internationally.

This position is part of the strategic research area ELLIIT, Excellence in Linköping and Lund in Information Technology (, which is shared between Lund University, Linköping University, Blekinge University of Technology and Halmstad University. In total, Lund has about 200 researchers, of which 110 are doctoral students, with a large proportion of interdisciplinary research.

Lund University and the Department of Automatic Control welcome applicants with different backgrounds and experiences. We see equality and diversity as a strength and asset. Currently, the department has three female professors, including a Lise Meitner professor, and one female university lecturer. Of our 15 senior teachers, 5 have a foreign background. We also have an active Diversity and Inclusion group.
