The School of Medical Sciences wishes to appoint a Senior Clinical Lecturer to join the Division of Medical Education. The role will focus on delivery of the community aspects of its undergraduate medical MB ChB Programme. The post is part-time (4 PAs, working Wednesday and one other day by mutual agreement) and is available from February 2025 on a permanent basis. The Manchester MB ChB Programme delivers a successful and innovative undergraduate medical Programme to over 2300 students. The Programme uses a blended teaching and learning approach based on adult learning principles emphasising experiential learning, subject integration and reflective practice at its core. The postholder will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team within the community team and will provide support to the Academic Lead for Community Based Medical Education (CBME) in management of a team of 25 academic staff, including recruitment, development and performance. It is a strategic role and will be active in teaching and scholarship activities, promoting agility and efficiency across the team whilst delivering an outstanding student experience. The postholder’s key responsibility is to provide strategic leadership within the community team, including in student scholarship and careers. They will be expected to promote the General Practice journey from school pupil to retired clinician, including supporting primary care clinical careers and the long-term development of all community educators involved in the Programme. We invite applications from practicing General Practitioners with a proficiency in medical education theory and practice - ideally holding a postgraduate qualification in Medical Education (PGCert, Diploma or MSc). Candidates should have education expertise and have demonstrated recent significant leadership in teaching, showcasing their commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience alongside academic excellence. Recent experience in delivering and managing education processes within a University or healthcare setting is also essential.
