Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant I/II in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 502934) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in public health, medical science, or related disciplines. They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and IT proficiency (MS Word and MS Excel). They should be responsible, ethical, self-motivated, detail-minded, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. Experience in infectious disease epidemiology and/or COVID-19 research would be an advantage. Those with higher qualifications and/or more experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Research Assistant.

The appointee will coordinate a community-based study on the epidemiology and/or vaccine responses of respiratory virus infections (e.g. COVID-19 and influenza) in Hong Kong. He/She will recruit participants, conduct regular follow-up through interviews and questionnaires, assist in clinical specimens collection including blood draws and respiratory specimens, and conduct active surveillance of illnesses and health education. For Senior Research Assistant, the appointee will also assist in project management; train and motivate junior research staff; ensure good research practice; liaise with ethics, regulatory and external bodies; write up standardized operating procedures (SOPs); contribute to quality assurance; and participate in investigator meetings. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
