The Department of Rural Health, formally known as the School of Rural Health, was established in 1999 with its largest campus located in Shepparton. The Department enables undergraduate health professionals to undertake a significant period of their training in rural environments and provides rural communities with greater access to teaching and research facilities and greater clinical support. About the Role

The Department of Rural Health seeks a Senior Researcher to enhance its research program. The researcher will undertake rural health research in one of three areas: workforce, chronic illness and cultural inclusion. The successful incumbent will also lead its Rural Health Academic Network, a small team of academics based in rural health services. This position is available in Shepparton or Wangaratta while being a part of the leading research university in Australia.


The Role and Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Research Fellow, the key responsibilities include producing quality peer reviewed academic publications in rural health while managing the Rural Health Academic Network (RHAN) research team and their projects. This includes providing training, support and mentorship to members of the Rural Health Academic Network (RHAN) and actively contributing to the education and student support of nursing and allied health students undertaking placement in rural health services. He or she will provide expertise and leadership to develop high-quality research across the University of Melbourne and RHAN network.


Skills & Experience Required

You will be an academic leader with a significant research profile at a national or international level, as evidenced by success in obtaining research funding and a strong, original publication record in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. As an ideal candidate, you will have an ability to work collaboratively, hold strong interpersonal and communication skills, effectively supervise higher degree and post-doctoral research students and work in partnership with key stakeholders in Rural Health Care settings.
