Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator, within Stroke, Division of Neuroscience. The position will be based at the Clinical Sciences Building, Nottingham University Hospitals, City Campus. We are registered as a HSRC (Hyper-Acute Stroke Research Centre), working on clinical trials contributing towards the NIHR portfolio. The role will include a mixture of both ward and office based responsibilities.

We are looking for a highly motivated and personable individual, who works well as a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, as well as on their own initiative. The role holder will be responsible for the management of a team of Clinical Trial Coordinators and an administrator, displaying skills in leadership, supervision and support. Managerial responsibilities will include arranging rotas, dealing with HR issues and conducting performance appraisals, as well as completing expressions of interests for clinical trials, trial set up and reporting on the unit’s recruitment performance.

The role holder will also be responsible for facilitating the consenting process for hyper-acute stroke CTIMPs, alongside consultants. Additional responsibilities include trial management, assessing eligibility for observational trials and randomised controlled trials, approaching patients and their relatives in a ward based environment, performing baseline assessments, follow ups and data entry. The successful candidate will also be expected, with training, to perform clinical skills such as venepuncture and ECGs.

Applicants should hold a degree, or equivalent, in psychology or a relevant healthcare profession, or current registration with the NMC. Applicants should also have experience of working in clinical trials with an ability to work out of hours and at weekends on occasion.

This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed-term post until 31 March 2021.
