Job summary

The National Heart and Lung Institute is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow position in order to provide support across the different intercalated BSc programmes offered by the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) and the MBBS programme. There will be a particular focus on the iBSc Cardiovascular Sciences and the early years of the undergraduate medicine programme.

The role will involve the development and delivery of active learning and teaching across topics within the remit of NHLI, particularly cardiovascular and respiratory science and medicine.  

The National Heart and Lung Institute’s (NHLI) main aims are to carry out research and education in Cardiovascular and Respiratory basic and clinical science. NHLI is committed to the development and delivery of excellent education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. NHLI’s education team is responsible for implementing, administering and supporting the Institute’s education and outreach activities, undertaken in line with the College’s strategy for education.

Duties and responsibilities

You are expected to support the development of learning and teaching materials on the iBSc Cardiovascular Sciences and other NHLI supported programmes, including the MBBS, as required and depending on their detailed expertise and skills set.

Essential requirements

You will hold an MBBS or a BSc in an appropriate biomedical field and have good knowledge of cardiovascular physiology is particularly desirable. The post is ideally suited for a proactive, enthusiastic individual seeking education development opportunities. You must be able to work well within a team environment, have passion for teaching and be willing to learn new skills to support education.

Further information

This is a full-time, open-ended post based at the Hammersmith campus (East Acton); however you will be expected on other teaching sites as required.

The College cannot normally apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship for this post under Tier 2 of the UKVI’s Points Based System. Any candidate, who is considering applying for this position and requires sponsorship, must ensure that they are able to obtain permission to work in the UK through an appropriate immigration route.
