Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Molecular Medicine / Immune Signaling

 

At the Technical University of Munich (TUM) the position as Tenure Track Assistant Professor for "Molecular Medicine / Immune Signaling" in grade W2 (limited to 6 years, with tenure track on W3) is to be filled at the earliest possible date, at the latest on 01.10.2020 , The professorship is funded by the Bund-Länder-Program for the Promotion of Young Scientists (Tenure Track Program).

 

Scientific environment

The professorship is assigned to the Faculty of Medicine and there to the Institute for Clinical Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry at the Klinikum rechts der Isar. The Faculty of Medicine is one of the strongest research and teaching centers in Germany. Interdisciplinary and translational research characterizes the faculty's image. Depending on the profile of the successful candidate, an interaction with the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK) as well as other health centers and the integration into the newly opened Research Center for Tranatal Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) is desired.

tasks

The tasks include research and teaching as well as support and promotion of young scientists. We are looking for an expert in the field of molecular medicine with a focus on the molecular and / or metabolic control of immune signals in the pathogenesis, especially in tumor diseases. The analysis and development of relevant preclinical in vivo models is desirable. The tasks in teaching include courses in both the advertised subject and the general basic subjects of the faculty as well as teaching for students of other faculties.

conditions

We are looking for a personality with the first scientific achievements and the potential to develop an independent research program at the highest international level. A university degree, an above-average doctorate, or a comparable special ability to do scientific work and special educational aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also required. Inter-national research experience is expected. Applicants are expected to have proven competence in attracting competitive funding for research funding (eg DFG, BMBF, EU) as well as in leading research projects. The acquisition of personal research funding (Heisenberg, ERC, etc.) is desired.
