Position description

The Department of Medicine of McGill University, a leader in academic medicine, invites applications for a tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Medicine.  Professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position will be supported by the newly established Respiratory Research Chair of the Meakins‐Christie Laboratories at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).   

The MUHC, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal (Quebec, Canada), is one of the major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.  We are seeking outstanding scientists to develop and extend programs of collaborative research that build upon a rich tradition of excellence in the field of Respiratory Diseases at the Meakins‐Christie Laboratories.

Job Duties

The successful candidate's research program will help drive the discovery of new disease mechanisms as well as novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in Respiratory Diseases. Major areas of interest include, but are not limited to: asthma, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, epigenetics, systems biology and "omics" technologies, stem cells and regenerative medicine, and lung immunobiology.  

The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (research, teaching, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees) and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in these activities.

Qualifications and Education requirements

The ideal candidate will be capable of integrating genetic and phenotypic data with molecular profiling methods and computational analysis techniques, for application in clinical patient populations and/or disease models.  Previous work in Respiratory Diseases is desirable but not absolutely required.  

Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD degree.  Applicants holding an MD degree who wish to engage in clinical practice must have completed subspecialty training and be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec.  All candidates should be fluent in English and would benefit from a working knowledge of French.
